Intra-European Fellowship (IEF)

The SPRAWLESCAPES research project is funded by the European Union under its Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) within the Marie Curie Actions. It is a so-called Intra-European Fellowship (IEF). This type of fellowship is designed for researchers willing to develop their career in Europe outside their home country.

The SPRAWLESCAPES project is still funded within FP7. The current EU Research and Innovation Programme is Horizon 2020. Within this new framework, there are actions comparable to the former Marie Curie Actions: the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The objective of the MSCA has, however, remained the same: it is designed to support the career development and training of researchers – with a focus on innovation skills – in all scientific disciplines through worldwide and cross-sector mobility.

One type of the MSCA are the so-called Individual fellowships (IF). They offer support for experienced researchers who want to undertake mobility between countries, optionally to the non-academic sector.
